How to stop documents being transferred to new laptop

I have recently transferred to a MacBook Air from a Sony vaio, it seems that my documents I have saved in my word starter package on the vaio have transferred to the history on my new MacBook, I really didn't want this and have no idea how it's happened, I can only think it's something to do with me installing office 365 on the Mac, although this was brand new and I started a new Microsoft account or maybe it's a home group issue although I have the vaio set to not share as I have the MacBook.
I realised this was happening by accident as I typed history into spotlight looking to change the setting and all the docs came up, when I go into office I can't see the docs, I've been googling all afternoon and nothing seems to help so I'm hoping someone here may be able to enlighten me 😊 It's quite the learning curve for me changing from Windows to a Mac so any help would be much appreciated.

After some research this morning I'm thinking this may be a gmail issue, it would seem the docs in my history have either been sent to or from me by gmail, any ideas anyone?0

Are you using google drive by any chance?0

I dont even know what that is but it would appear that it comes pre installed on office 365 which i installed on my macbook a few days ago, i also have my gmail account on here, I shall try to turn it off, thanks for the suggestion, any more info would be great0

Can you find out where - in which folder- the docs are saved on the MacBook? What happens if you delete a doc, does it also disappear from the Viao? Does it reappear on the MacBook?0

The documents on the mac are under history on the mac with sub folders labeled documents, pdfs, presentations etc, when i click on a doc it takes me to a microsoft live sign in page and set up a new account, as I said before i installed a brand new windows 365 on the mac with a new account etc so cant see how its shared my old word docs, the other day I could open them without signing in to anything, I cant delete them at all, I really wish I'd never put office on here now, maybe a uninstall might be in order and return the product? Thanks for the reply and trying to help0

It sounds like MS installed One Drive whether you like it or not and it's set to sync all your docs whenever you are logged in to Office365. You need to do a search and check that the Onedrive app is not somehow on the Mac.0
