External hard drive help

I’ve just got myself a 160GB external hard disc. I’ve been trying to create a backup using the XP wizard. It’s telling me after about 20mins that the disc is to small after only about uploading 4GB of info.

I’ve been having trouble with my disc drive not reading some discs, the next step from the manufactures help desk is take the laptop back to original settings. Because of the disc problems I have not been able to download the software that came with the hard drive.

I’ve managed to download every thing in my docs folder. This should be all I think I need to keep before taking pc back to original settings.

you need to format the external disk to ntfs, 4 gig is around the max file size on fat32 - which is what it is now.
I would tell you how to format it, but pub calls !
