What are the negatives of opening a few accounts in relation to e.g taking out a mortgage in the near future e.g 6mths?.
I still have an old zero acc which I was told I would need to close to obtain a Santander 123 a/c - it's possibly incorrect but such was their advise last winter, lol.
The zero has a cheap £1000 o/d buffer so want to hang on to it as an emergency fund of sorts.
I have a low mtg rate so not inclined to pay it down, however what to do with the 60k I will have after sale to make it work for me is baffling - and I am swatting this threads/forum as I type! Read Martins guides etc and it's so hard to understand.
I would like to find non switch accounts that give me easy access as may be selling summer/autumn this year. Don't want to mess up my credit rating or anything, but obviously would like to earn 3%+ on it in the meantime if I decide to sell first.I hope that makes sense?
Any advice gratefully recieved.

I'm not familiar with the Zero current account, but surely the O/D is not as cheap as 3% EAR?
I wouldn't mess too much with lots of current account applications with such a short time to the mortgage application. However, if there are two of you, the 'impact' will be shared.
Where's the £60K now? And what's it making?0 -
SorryYorkshireboy, my post was a bit muddled, I will have the money in the coming months. There's just me.0

Zero preceeded the 123 and has been withdrawn I believe.0

It's possible that my purchase will not require this money, so would still like to find out what I can do with it that doesn't leave footprints on my file for credit.
Is there anything I can do?0
