Bringing Duty Free Spirits back in Plastic Bottles

We always purchase our duty free in the Canaries in plastic bottles in the resorts. It is much cheaper than the airport and a lot lighter than the glass bottles. We have also been known to bring back a half consumed bottle of spirits back from the Canaries in additional to our allowance. We were stopped once by customs and were allowed through without confiscation presumably because it was not an unopened full bottle. We did get a good telling off0
