Alternative to Salou

Options
Having visited Salou for the last 6 years, we're looking for an alternative but have no idea where to begin.

This'll be for late September, 2 adults, we're far from the club 18-30 age :rotfl:

Visited the Canaries many times, before Salou become our favourite.

If we could move Salou to another location, that'd be great :j

We're certainly not into the party scene, then again, don't want somewhere isolate, somewhere we could stroll in the evening for a beer

Any suggestions / recommendations please?

What do you like about Salou? And what makes Salou better than the canaries in your opinion?

If you moved Salou to another location you'd still be going to Salou ;)

  • Benidorm? Magaluf?

My favourite at the moment due to low cost flights outside the main season is Fuengirola flying in/out Malaga.

Are you looking to go outside Spain?

    Yes, somewhere completely different
  • How about Albufeira in Portugal? Flights to Faro are plentiful and usually quite reasonable.

Late September, if you want to go somewhere completely different I would suggest maybe Hersonissos in Crete, Laganas in Zante, Sidari in Corfu, Bugibba in Malta or Albufeira in the Algarve. Marmaris, Bodrum or Altinkum would be a good alternative if you fancied Turkey too.

Greece would be completely different, as would Turkey but in a good way. It's more relaxed than Salou, as in it's less built up, smaller roads etc but all the resorts I've mentioned have plenty of shops, bars, restaurants etc. The nightlife is good in that you can go out for a nice meal and a quiet drink, or you can find a bar that has a tribute act, quiz night etc too if you want it. The food in Greece is fantastic and everything is reasonably priced too. All the resorts I've mentioned are favoured by the Brits and you can get your full english and pie and mash if you want in the british bars but you can also try local food in lots of places too. Lots of nice beach bars and places to walk too.

Turkey is different again, similar to Greece in terms of great food and reasonable prices but is probably a little bit busier with bigger hotels and lots more shops! Some great day trips from these resorts too.

Albufeira and Bugibba are in many ways just like Spain, with lots of brit bars as well as great steakhouses, local seafood etc too. Lots of bars with entertainment at night or quiet bars if you want them and again tons of shops. Weather should still be good at that time of year.

If you usually go half board or all inclusive I would probably push you more towards Albufeira as the hotels there are bigger and generally better geared up for AI. If you like Self Catering or BB then go to Greece or Turkey as you will not be disappointed with the food in resort!

    I'd considered Albuferia, flights x 2 = £450.00

    Is that a problem?
If cost is an issue it would be really helpful if you mentioned a budget figure to work with.

I never understand these requests. There are literally hundreds of towns and cities you can get to on low cost carriers that fit your criteria of not being Salou and having a place to buy a beer!
