Scottish Power DD Pain In The R's
Hi all,
Scottish Power done it again!
A couple of months ago they reduced our monthly DD by 50% due to us having a 'credit balance'.
We called them and requested it be returned to original figure, this was done so I thought no more of it.
The other day the missus checked her account and Scottish Power DD was less than usual - almost 50% less.
I called them up and they said it was because we had a credit balance of £87. I stated that it is winter and I'd rather keep the same amount being paid each month. Conversation continued and he stated the system 'adjusts' the DD amount relative to your current balance.
Anyhow, he advised me to take a meter reading there and then (as it was 40 days since they last had one!).
I did this and he politely stated that our balance had gone from credit to debit of over £130, and the system now wanted to put up the DD to more than the original figure.
As you can guess I was none too pleased and requested it be left at the original figure - 'unfortunately our system will only allow me to reduce by a certain %'. This was very close to what I wanted to pay but it's not the point!
People budget and expect DD to stay the same, not jump up and down all over the place - if we had left alone for another month before submitting a reading, we could easily be facing a DD double what we originally paid.
His parting advice was to submit meter readings on a monthly basis, but the DD figure could not be fixed!
Rant over, anyone else with similar experiences?

I also can't understand why the DD has to be adjusted so regularly - it makes it difficult to budget.
I am quite happy if the DD is one twelfth of the annual estimate
In December Eon refunded my credit of £79, dropped my DD from £95 to £78. With my Winter bills at about £110 I expect an adjustment back up will follow.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
