Good temp account to close when switching?

Hi all,
Can anyone suggest a good account to use for the purpose of a switch so I don't have to close my old account but get the switch bonus?
I'm thinking it'd need to have the following:
Accept direct debits
Be part of the switcher service
Not be in any offer at the moment that would mean switching back to that bank would make me ineligible for any offers they may have.
No monthly charge
Ideally if it didn't have a debit card but I suppose I can always dispose of that if received.
I'm really hoping someone might be able to suggest something please?

Any bank that you don't regularly bank with.
I've opened loads of accounts recently, tesco and HSBC require you to sign a piece of paper and send it back, so if you want 1 open quick maybe avoid them?0 -
Thanks Dan83, the one I opened on Monday took less than 10 minutes and was no problem at all doing it online. I do have a Tesco savings account which might aid in getting a current account but their current account seems like a good fallback when rates change as they have a decent overdraft as well as 3% interest rate.0

Who did you open your account with? I don't know why but Barclays and HSBC seemed to take for ever, where as everyone else was on the ball and seemed to move along quite quick.0

That was TSB, they were great for setting up the new account. At least the online side, haven't received anything in the post yet. I was considering Barclays but maybe not now if they're that bad.
I noticed their basic account might have a monthly fee, I'm checking carefully to see which ones have the monthly fee.0 -
I'm going to try natwest next time I need a temp account, never used them before and there is 1 around the corner incase I need to pop in.0

Who's your present bank as it seems v. easy to open a second account with NatWest, I assume that could be the case with a number of other banks, then you don;t have the hassle of sending ID etc as a new customer?0 -
My present bank is Cahoot, you can't open a new account with them. I have opened another account now and it all went through and approved although I have to wait 5-7 days for things in the post. I don't know how long it takes to transfer direct debits into it for the switch...0
