sounds like a pre-authorised transaction. if that's the case you should get it back in at least 7 days.
basically the computer asked your bank for permission to take the money, the bank said yes but their system crashed so payment was never actually received so the money is in a kind of limbo state until a week passes at which point it gets bored of waiting to pay for something and returns home to your bank account.
Not experienced this with Sky, but is quite common in america when paying by card in a restaurant, they charge your card for the price of the meal, then return the card and allow you to write on the reciept how much of a tip you want to leave. they then go back and process the transaction a 2nd time adding the tip and this is what is charged for your card. the initial transaction shows as a difference in available balance account balance and is eventually released back to you - about a week later.#141 - Save £3k in 2016 challenge - #141

You haven't met three mobile then lol
Don't get me started on them! I had a contract with them many years ago and wanted to cancel.
The "customer service" advisor left me on the verge of a breakdown before finally listening to me and proceeding with my request. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

Well I've used them in store where they were fine. But these companies tend to be more welcoming when you're walking in than when you're walking out....the Sky "customer services" chappie sounded like I'd just told him I had run over his dog rather than I wanted out of the free trial.0
