I think my mental block holding me back from sending the paperwork off is because of the resulting acknowledgment that i have a problem, I cannot carry on living the way I have been living, I need to make some changes.

This is the right thing. 2 years to sort my debt out isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things and personally I find a serviced plan better as I have to be accountable. I need to just send the docs off.

To repay £12,000 in 2 years you're going to have to make payments of £500 per month. It's also unlikely your creditors will agree to freeze interest if you can make payments of £500 per month as you should be able to meet the minimum agreed repayments on a schedule like that.

You need to pay £200 per month to clear the £12,000 debt in 5 years and that's if they agree to freeze interest which is much more likely if that's all the spare income you have and have no chance of earning any more.

To repay £33 a month it will take you 30 years to repay £12,000 which is pointless.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • remember how good it's going to feel knowing that the phone calls will stop and there's a clear structured plan.

It'll be ok. "Just do it" ;-)

    Thank you.
I know it seems so stupid to get in a state over some forms like this, and how silly really to post on a forum just for some virtual hand holding while I signed up, but it's what I needed and it's done now. So thank you
Guess is better join the DMP thread now!!

I am still waiting for my plan to be set up and now I cannot wait. I'm really keen to make that first £33 payment lol. I guess the sooner it starts the sooner the two years will be over.

OP, not wanting to diminish your enthusiasm at all, and apologies for having to ask this twice, but you appear to be just posting random sentences, and seen unable to answer the most basic of questions when asked.

The figures you have posted simply don't add up, at all, in that time scale, you would need to repay £500 a month over two years to clear this debt, where does the £33 a month figure come from ?
