Do any insurers covers this hypothetical scenario (missed departure)?

I have an overnight train booked on Monday at 18:00 to take me to the nearest city to my airport, I then have to get a coach to the airport.
As I have a lot of time to kill before the train departs, a trip is booked that the tour operator says will get us back for 16:00, however there is a problem the tour operator's vehicle brakes down/ cannot reach the train station due to bad weather.
In this scenario would insurers pay out under "missed departure" cover?

I wouldn't have thought so, it's not transport taking you between your home and the airport.0

I agree that Missed Departure Cover probably wouldn't cover it. A decent insurer could theoretically cover a similar scenario, though I'd imagine in your case the time between the end of the tour and your flight would be deemed to be cutting it too fine to cover.
When I pressed Nationwide (UK Insurance) for a specific answer when I had a similar question, the agent suggested the underwriter would consider allowing 3 hours a prudent amount of time.
What sort of tour are you taking? Would it be possible for you to keep an eye on traffic levels and if it starts looking bad, leave the tour early and jump in a taxi?0 -

Traffic wouldn't be a problem I'd imagine. I'm staying in North Sweden. I was considering a trip to Norway (about 1 hours drive away from where I'm staying), however I wanted to check what the situation would be in terms of insurance cover.0
