Had to drop it on the floor in order for it to give me the DVD back.
Its now making loads of noise and is about to be launched out of the window.
Question is where do I get a cheap good new one from?
I've seen one in Tesco for £12

I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them but they were only satellites
Is it wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care

Well, if you've seen one for £12, you're not going to get anything for much cheaper than that! however it's often the case that you get what you pay for.. If you're replacing it again in a year's time then it's a false economy.
This looks quite good http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=DAEW-DV9000 -
As a future note to people wanting their DVDs back, if you look carefully at the front of the DVD drive, somewhere there should be a small hole. If you poke something long and thin, such as an unbent paperclip, into the hole, there's a button which forces the DVD drive to eject. This is useful in case the drive doesn't want to give the DVD back, or simply if its turned off.0

£12 for a new DVD player once a year doesn't sound like a false economy to me, assuming i've picked you up properly.
Spending 150-200 on something so that it lasts is fine, but realistically how long will it last? 4-5 years? Ok sale of goods act can kick in and all that, but is it worth it for a £150 5 year old dvd player when new ones can be had for £12, even if it is a poorer quality one?
I guess the price also depends on the brand name you want and the features you want eg DTS sound etc.
For a basic player at £12 i don't think you'll find anything cheaper!!

The DVD player I was talking about is this one.... http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-4875.aspx
I was impressed with the cost, and according to this http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers/philips-dvp-3020/6762 it can play any region if using a crack and most formats.I saw two shooting stars last nightI wished on them but they were only satellitesIs it wrong to wish on space hardwareI wish, I wish, I wish you'd care0 -
If you feel like upgrading, you can get a HD DVD player which can also play standard DVDs, also upscales them. You can get a quite decent one from Play here.
I'd be careful of getting anything expensive from Play, I know people who've been messed about by them and also just this week I learned that you aren't covered by ANY consumer rights if you buy from play. I know that sounds ridiculous, someone claimed it on the vents/warning board on this forum so I looked into it to dispute it but they're right. Jersey has no consumer rights law."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
