Credit Report

Options
Ok im abit confused, in the past when I have requested a copy of my credit report it has all my creditors I owe money too, (which is quite a few).

Last week I requested a copy from Experian and today received my unique code so logged on and printed it off, im abit confused because my debts have been ongoing, half of the creditors I owe money too are not on the list, so can anyone shed any light on this!! has it been going on too long and they have written them off or is it Experian's fault, bearing in mind I have signed up to 3 different credit report websites to get the report and all are the same!!!

Thanks in advance

Have you recently moved or changed your name? If so it can take time for things to filter through. I have known stuff to disappear for a few months then suddenly come back, no idea why other than the above - moving address or name change (not that I have changed names but I have moved)

    Hi Lucia

Did you default on payments years ago? If so it may be that the defaults were added to your credit file over 6 years ago which would mean the debts no longer show at all.

  • Hi yes I moved last May, but even stuff I've taken out since is on the report. Some debts are over 6 years old some are only a couple of years but still not on the report.
  • Have you told all these organisations that you have moved, if not it may take a while before these missing accounts become linked to you at your new address. The reason being for the moment you may be another person with the same name and DOB living at a new address.

When I moved, I found that just moving a single account from my old address to the new one was enough to trigger an address link and all the accounts soon appeared. Even those where I had not yet updated the address.

On the report if your previous address is not shown as a linked address, the above may well be needed.
  • The report has all my linked addresses from nearly 9 years ago and has some debts on going back 5 years.

The debts should fall off if older than 6 years unless your still paying them.
  • Ok, most debts were high and from at least 6 years so maybe your right but can probably guarantee that when I start paying the ones on the report, the others I owe will re-appear!!! Thanks for all your help.
  • OK, so going back to my original post about my credit report and some creditors missing. I have had post at my previous address (which is on the report) from a couple of the creditors not on the list, so do I need to call them and see why they are not showing?
