White Spots on attic ceiling

Options
We bought a house last year, had to change the insulation due to a little woodworm in one of the timbers.

We got new stuff put down by our electrical utlity 6 months ago or so.

I went up into the attic at the weekend and noticed quite a few white spots (damp/mould?) on the roof felt.

Our house is a 1960s semi detached.

On our home buyers report it said we need to make air ventilation. We haven't sorted this yet. Could the new insulation be causing this? I am wondering if the insulation has been pushed right to the edge and suffocating the house a bit.

By making ventilation does that mean making holes in the plastic eaves around the roof? Currently there are none, or any vents.

Any advice much appreciated.

Roofs can be vented at the eaves, but more commonly a couple of vents are put through the actual roof. If the insulation has been pushed right into the eaves this can block any ventilation that there may have been but it may also be that the whole roof area is much colder than it was before so you are getting more condensation up there.

Check the eaves, if they are clear (50mm at least between the insulation and the underside of the roof felt) then you may well need some extra ventilation up there.
