Hi, My Samsung S4 Galaxy mini has developed some faults, screen occasionally freezing, and sound problem when on calls. I've only had it since about last October so its still under warranty.
The problem is, I want to back up my contacts and text messages, and photos to some extent although that is not so important as I have already copied them to my computer. I have not downloaded any apps onto the phone and don't really want to so that is not an issue/
I've tried using Kies, Kies lite and Smart Switch but Kies tells me that my device is not recognised even though its connected via USB cable and the drivers were downloaded. Smart Switch does not back up the text messages. Any ideas as to what I can do as I don't want to send the phone off for repair without a back up.
Thanks

What else do you want to backup besides the contacts, messages and photos that you have already backed up to your PC?0

Photos windows explore usb connection cut and paste .
Contacts via GMail .
Messages MORE >> SAVE
saved in device storage messaging .0 -

Can't really think of anything else I want a back up of, just looking through my photos though there are some that don't seem to want to transfer to the pc, can probably email them to myself though and download them that way.0 -

If I used Google mail, wouldn't that merge the contacts with whatever contacts was in my mail account, I don't want to do that.
If I did the MORE to SAVE, how does that get them to my pc and how would I restore them when phone comes back?
Sorry, not very techie.0 -
Apparently they are in the folder WhatsApp>Media>WhatsApp Images

Its the contacts and messages that are more important to me.
Any ideas why Kies is not recognising the phone?0 -
