mobile scooter in Benidorm?

i am going to benidorm in a couple of weeks and usually get around via a manual wheelchair and a lovely ds1 who pushes it. however in lots of progs i have seen, there are people zipping around on mobile scooters and was thinking of giving it a trial. my only experience is that of using them in large supermarkets. but i thought this might mean a break for ds1 too, am sure he would be happier to go off and do his own thing a bit more, if he knew i would be a bit more mobile. but firstly what i was hoping was that some fellow mobility challenged could answer some queries
1, is it a place that is as scooter friendly as it looks, would i be able to drive it into shops, hotels, bars etc or does it have to be left outside?
2, should i rent it before i go? i know it is out of season but thats the time when they are being used the most by people avoiding our british winter.
3, are there any in particular that can be recommended? am staying near hotel joya
thanks in advance

I can't offer any advice about the actual rental but one thing to check up on is your travel insurance to make sure that you are covered whilst riding one of the scooters.
There may not be a problem but as some policies don't provide cover when the insured person is using scooters or motorbikes and even though it's not the same thing, it would be worth looking into.0 -

My friend went to Benidorm, her photo album is entitled "Benidorm: home of the mobility scooter".
She also says that you can hire them, there were hire shops dotted around. A quick google confirms this. Enjoy.0
