Just retired and have no debt, good monthly pension. I have £200k lump sum coming which I need to put somewhere. Not sure what to do? Any advice please

What do you want the lump sum for? What timeframe? Without some basic requirements it's impossible to sensibly say anything other than broad generalities. eg If it's for the long term (>5-10 years) you should have some in cash and most in share and probably bond based investments.
Once you know what you want the money for, with £200K it should be very worthwhile consulting an IFA, particularly if you have little investment experience.0 -

You need to define "good" then.If you can find a good one maybe but so far I have struggled.
You may have struggled because of where you live or whether it is a personal relationship thing?0 -

Undervalued has his own thread on the subject. His experiences are of 2 advisers (one from 10 years ago and one from 5, which he did not employ - so both pre RDR). So, that is a sample of 0.009% of the current adviser base.
I fear his problem is that he wants is not consistent with what an adviser can deliver. Especially post RDR with its increased due diligence and compliance requirements. Hence the problem.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
While you are thinking, you could safely hold the cash in NS&I Income Bonds.
