Issues with Apple Mac's Power Lead

If you're ever trying to get anything remotely technical or replacements done in an Apple store, book an appointment which is the "official" way of doing things.
This gets you a guaranteed slot of time with one of their technical guys and means you aren't standing in the middle of a packed shop fighting for attention from the sales guys who more often than not don't have the authority to issue replacements etc...
I've heard loads of complaints re Macbook chargers failing and it's almost always down to bad end user handling - I've had about 4 MacBooks and never once has the charger failed on me of frayed in anyway.0 -
Guys, I've found the transaction on my bank statement. It was exactly 2 years ago this month. I have an appointment with genius bar on Monday so I'll hear what they have to say. I agree with almillar that having spent £65 on a power lead I certainly expect it to last longer than 2 months. Any mis-use of the item will be clearly evident to them when they examine it.
So far I've received no acknowledgement to the email I sent on Sunday.0 -
So glad that you have found the proof of buying on your bank statement. Do let us know how it all goes.0

So happy to hear that you have not had a bad experience. Can you qualify why you can state that chargers failing are down to bad end user handling please?0 -

3 years working in an AASP.
Email to whom? Apple has no email address for enquiries or technical resolutions unless you're dealing directly with one of their "senior advisors".So far I've received no acknowledgement to the email I sent on Sunday.
Official ways of contact are live chat or phone.0 -

When I went into the store last Saturday I spoke to the manager who told me to send my complaint to the email address that will be on the receipt when I pay for the new power lead so that's what I did.
Anyway, I'll hear what they have to say when they see that my old power lead is in near perfect condition but has stopped working.0 -
Quick update: I had an appointment with Genius bar today. I asked the technician if he could test my old power lead but as I had produced a copy of my bank statement showing proof of purchase of a power lead 2 years ago, he replaced instead. At first he said that he couldn't change the warranty policy which is 12 months so I told him that I wasn't asking him to change the policy but as I had paid £65 for the power lead just 2 years ago, I had a reasonable expectation that it would last longer than 2 years especially as it's not cheap.
I found it a bit odd that he took back the power lead that I purchased 2 weeks ago and processed a refund and then he went and took a new power lead off the shelf and gave it to me. I was wondering why he didn't just let me keep the one I had recently purchased and process my refund but I didn't say anything. I'm happy that he replaced it.0 -
Excellent result, well done. Thank you for the update.0
