Question about searches

So, I am looking at my credit reports (free ones and stat credit report from experian). I was wondering about the searches, how many is too many, and how long to they effect you for?
Ignoring the advice about the impact on my credit score (as I know this is irrelevant), is there a set time when they are no longer seen by potential lenders?
My reason for asking is that I have opened 3 new current accounts, 1 new credit card and new utilities over the last year so there are a few searches in 2015, but none in the last 4 months. My Tesco CC 0% comes to an end in April and although I will have paid off my balance, I may want to move to a cc that may offer me 0% on purchases for a new sofa (have the savings but trying to be a bit smarter and squeeze every bit of interest on the money!). So, how long is long enough before I risk another search?
Any advice is gratefully received.

I believe searches stay on your credit history for two years. But with no searches in the last 4 months, the previous searches are unlikely to have any effect.
It's usually when there are lots of searches within about two months that it has a negative effect0
