Very quick one, have tried to find the answer online but getting mixed answers
If I take out the American Express platinum card is the £450 fee charged immediately and if i cancel the card within the year do i receive a refund for the full amount?

Full?! No way.and if i cancel the card within the year do i receive a refund for the full amount?
Even partial refund is unlikely as "Depending on the type of Card issued to you, a Cardmembership Fee may be payable which may include a joining fee and/or a periodic fee". This implies indirectly that it's not refundable as otherwise there would be no point in having two types of fees.

My experience with Amex is that the annual fees are charged in full on the first statement, partial refunds are given if canx part way through the membership year.
A full refund would be out of the question, as you've already used part of the year's benefit - it would be like cancelling your car insurance half way through the year.0 -
I received a pro rata refund when I cancelled my card a year or so ago, when the fee increased to 450. I swapped to the gold charge card and some of the refund went toward the fee for the new card.0

They also pro-rata refunded me on Amex Plat. But that was a few years ago.0
