Car repair via insurance

Hoping someone can give me the answer to this,
My car is with NHS fleet solutions and whilst work someone has hit my front bumper and wheel arch, cause a large dent and scratch, left no note and no cctv covering the car park, so had to claim and going to have to pay the excess myself
My insurance company have given the job to their preferred partner, who are 40 minutes drive from me, I need to go for an estimate and then back again for the actual repair. There is a perfectly good body repair shop next door to my house! As this would be seen as a claim from me am I able to choose my own repair shop or do I have to go with who my insurance company chooses?
Many thanks

I'd check your policy documents as usually they stipulate that they will use their own repair centres, due to receiving discounts from them.
I'd get an estimate from your local place, and discuss it with your insurer.
If your insurer uses their own people, then any issues relating to the repair will be for your insurers to rectify. However, go with your own people, and any issues arising from the repair may be on you.0 -
If this is your own policy then you do have the right to have the repairs done at your choice of repairer.
Your insurer may try and raise obstacles (eg some charge a higher excess if you don't use their garage) but stick to your guns if that is what you want.0 -
Just read my papers and all there repairers do a collection and delivery service and give you a courtesy car as well as valeting your car before returning, so I am happy with that. Thanks for your replies0
