Getting photos on computer with Windows 10

Options
I wonder if anyone can help please. I've been trying to put some photos on my computer with a separate card reader and can't get it to work this time. I've used it a couple of times before with no problem.

When I put the card in the card reader I get a Canon DC(F) page. The card isn't Canon nor is the camera and I can't see any way to get the photos on the computer. It's an SD card.

I'm not technically minded and I hate windows 10 lol.

Any suggestions please?

Go to 'This PC' your drives should be listed there. Click on your SD card then find the pics you want and then drag and drop them to where you wish to store them.
    Don't hate W10 :(, it's not it's fault you don't know what you are doing..;):D

I've found W10 to be pretty good at recognising additional drives (USB or internal card reader) and offering a choice of what to do with them. I don't think I've needed to look for a drive in the Explorer list since I upgraded.

If that isn't happening with your card perhaps that indicates an issue with the card or the reader rather than a problem with W10.

Click start - Type 'Troubleshooting' hit 'enter'
Click on 'Hardware and Sound' - Click on 'Hardware and Devices' to run the troubleshooter. Follow on screen instructions.
Then reboot and see if that solves the problem

Also check to see if the card works correctly on another PC.

lol, I'm completely flummoxed, I've tried another card with just one pic on it and it's there but I still can't find a way to see the pic. I'll have to wait until my son visits and see if he can work it out for me.

I don't have another PC to try it on.

I just don't know how I put the other photos on lol.

Right click the pic you can see, on the menu that comes up point to 'Open with' - Select 'Photo's' or anything else you are offered that you usually use if you want.
See if that works for you......

OP you could try launching the Photos app for Windows 10 and see if it's possible to import them that way: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-live/photo-gallery-import-photos-faq

I've a Canon camera too and whenever I pop it into my computer and it's named as that for some reason.

I'm guessing this is what you're seeing?: Windows-10-autoplay.png

Thank you again everyone, haven't had time to try anything today apart from trying my hubbies compact flash card in the external card reader. It loaded loads of photos some of which I'm sure have been deleted (is that possible lol) will have to check when the battery has recharged. It didn't load the one I took yesterday though.
