CPP Card Protection Renewal 2016

I just received a CPP card protection renewal notice of £36-99. I thought these were no longer valid in the UK? It says I can phone them to cancel it so I don't get charged. There's a section at the bottom which says "Where does your money go?" The breakdown is : Insurance premium £0.74 and a fee of £36.25 payable to CPP for arranging insurance. What do you think?

Ive also regularly receivex these reminderss
There was an opportunity to claim for misselling of CPP that was sent to us a year or so ago and I didn't find the letter until after the expiry date.
I've still got my CPP and having seen MSE last night on TV intend to try now to claim.
I don't know whether it was sold to us direct by CPP or bank or credit card. Not sure how to find out.
Any tips?0 -
I don't know about renewal. I think most people including myself received a notice from CPP concerning a refund of charges along the lines of PPI refunds. I didn't get a refund though.
Until now I had assumed that CPP was no more.0
