But you wouldn't be doing nothing for 3 years - you'd have the pleasure of studying during that time.

Studying full time as well as caring for 35 is going to leave you no time for a social life or holidays anyway - there are only so many hours in the day!

Is this a realistic way to spend 3 years? I imagine being burnt out, depressed and jaded living a life like that. I can always find a few hours if I get ahead of things (dont do tv or sleep much).

The Open University is well worth looking into if you have caring responsibilities.

I do like the OU, I did a course with them a few years a go however it comes back to an unrealistic lifestyle of just being home for 90% of my life with little to no social interaction.

It'll be hard going, that's what I'm saying. You're the one insisting that this is the right route for you, others are saying that the OU would suit you far better.

I'm a carer and I got a certificate of higher education with the OU. I've stopped studying with them for now. I found myself very tied to the house but I'm dyslexic so writing essays and studying seems to take me longer than most. The OU cost wise is cheaper than studying with other universities. Plus you need to remember you can only study part time otherwise you won't get carers allowance.
