CLC Resort discounted holiday offer - will it be ok??

Hi all,

I complete a lot of online surveys to get vouchers etc but the drawback to this is the annoying phone calls. Normally I just ignore them but as I was waiting for a call from Vodafone and didn't know what number they'd be calling me from, I answered and it was CLC resort telling me that I'd been selected for a big discounted holiday.

What's the catch, I asked, I'd have to pay for the flights and listen to a presentation. I know this is a timeshare thing but I thought it might be worth a few painful hours for a nice break?

I've opted for their Cornwall spa resort for a long weekend with my DH, DS and DD as there's no travel costs. It's cost £187 total but there looks like a lot to do there plus I love Cornwall.

I am now a bit worried about the tough selling routine that these timeshare companies are renowned for, any tips from anyone who's been to one would be gratefully received. Has anyone been on one and had a great time?

I should've known better really but hey ho, we all do these things sometimes in our lives, but will I live to regret it?!!!

Thanks for listening 😊

'Great time' and 'time-share sales presentation' are two phrases that should never be uttered in the same sentence.

You will be subjected to intense selling practices by people who have honed their 'skills' over many years.

I've read about lots of people who have gone to a presentation with a 'it's a few painful hours for a free holiday' attitude and lived to regret it.

I'm sure you'll get lots of one-post-wonder newly joined members come along and tell you how membership of these schemes is fabulous.

Personally, I'd not touch them with a bargepole.

    ETA:
I suggest you do a search for 'clc' on this board and read the results.

Trenython Manor, or Hustyns? I know someone that went to Trenython and the presentation was on the Saturday morning and they were left alone for the rest of the weekend. I wouldn't say to avoid them, just be aware of what you've signed up to.

(I also know someone that has been to a Radisson timeshare in Malta several times, £99 for a week and no hassle beyond sitting through a quick presentation.)

I've been to a few of these (local ones, with freebies). If you are 100% confident that you (plural) can ensure a hard sell, then go for it. If you make it clear at the start that they've got no chance whatsoever of a sale they tend to go easy on you and have a chat or just let you go early.

We're going to Trenython and have no intention whatsoever of signing up to anything. And I will make it clear at the start. Our 2 little ones are 6yrs and 2yrs so am hoping they'll assist with getting out quick from boredom?!!!!
I guess we'll have to just suck it and see!!!
    Thanks all👍

Did you end up going to Trenython Manor? How was it? Just had a letter offering us a free 3 night break

Sorry for resurrecting this old post. But did you get your holidays all right in the end? Was the presentation too much hassle for a week of free holidays?

    Thank
