Improving spouse's credit score

Hello,
My mrs doesn't have any credit cards since she uses additional cards issued from my accounts. She has a decent but not great credit score (4/5 on noddle) , she only has her bank account and mobile phone contract showing up in the credit report.

I would like to improve her score since we expect to apply for a mortgage in a year's time. With that in mind and reading the useful MSE articles on the subject it looks like she can apply for one of the Aqua credit cards or Barclays Initial. My question is, if she gets one of these cards, does the fact that she has a "credit builder" card on her account affect how she's seen by lenders?

She could apply for a normal card but we want to minimise the risk of rejection and we also don't care about the interest rate or rewards etc since we'll pay it off in full each month.

Any advice is appreciated :)

Its not the score your improving but adding to the credit history.

Rejections aren't noted on the report anyway, just that a search was carried out.
