e-on switch cancelled

I signed up to switch to e-on a few weeks ago. I got asked to submit gas and electricity readings two days ago. I took the readings and went to submit them online. The electricity one I was able to submit but the gas one I wasn't.
I logged in today to see what was happening and the electricity one is ready to switch but the gas one isn't. Moving from British Gas.
Any ideas why?

my guess is a credit check is more than likely if its been cancelled,
just ring Eon for an explanation they should tell you there and there what the issue is
hopefully its just an error maybe0 -
Soon after posting this I received an email from e-on telling me that British Gas have stopped the switchover. Thought it was strange. Logged into the BG account and the gas account is in debit. Paid off the amount, rang up BG who confirm it's all paid for and can proceed to change. Spoke to e-on who said they'd reactivate the switchover but the gas won't be done for another two weeks whilst the electricity one will switch over next week.
Given that I was trying to go for a dual fuel tariff and hence discount, will it still apply or will both accounts default to the standard one? I'd originally applied for e-on's energy saver v19 tariff.0 -
Did Eon say it had been cancelled?
Often, electricity switches occur faster than Gas ones - even when changing from the same supplier, so it could just be slightly delayed/slower than the electricity switch.
EDIT: Just seen your post above, BG shouldn't be preventing a switch just because your account is in debit..0 -

Yup. The email went along the lines of "Your current supplier, , has contactded us to let us know they have stopped your energy switch to E.ON. Data Protection rules mean that they cannot disclose the reason for their action to us. They can only tell you."
Both gas and electricity accounts were in debit so as far I was concerned, I'd get a final bill for the outstanding amounts and settle the bill. Both are on monthly DD. Just no idea why the gas was stopped but the electricity wasn't. British Gas couldn't give me an answer when I asked them - they said it should all go through.EDIT: Just seen your post above, BG shouldn't be preventing a switch just because your account is in debit..0 -
Morning d0nkeyk0ng,
Great that this is all now sorted out and you're free to change if you like.
As Version 19 is still available arrange to switch to it asap as this is what you wanted.
It will take a couple of weeks to fully switch over, but the tariff will be on the quote.
If you then wanted to change tariff again with us, you can once both the gas and electric are 'live' without fee
If you need a hand with the quote etc, just let me know.

The customer facing people are kept in the dark on purpose, otherwise they might do something stupid and tell you the reason. It might be because they hoped you wouldn't notice or you'd just ignore it, maybe they just want the extra couple of weeks of money. If you owe a lot then it's possible the system calculates the likelihood that the DD for the final bill will bounce, based on information they got from you when they did the initial credit check. But again it's unlikely anyone you get to talk to would be privy to that, because you might be offended if they told you.0 -
You never know what will happen, and when it happens, during a switch.
Last time I switched, I submitted the electricity and gas meter readings on initiating the switch, which were totally ignored, of course. Then when I was notified to submit, I did both again.
But of course, they only used the electricity one, and ignored the gas one. Apparently, another e-mail requesting for the gas reading was sent, but I thought it was just crossed mail, since I submitted the gas one already. No, the gas one had to be submitted during a date range, with about two days discrepancy from the valid date range for electricity.
Any way, they said I did not submit the gas reading in time, so they waited the requisite time out period, and estimated the handover reading, which was so overestimated, that the human meter reader could not enter the actual reading.
It is not a dual fuel switch, they go through two separate processes. Three months after a switch once, I noticed there was no dual fuel discount. Rang up, they DIDN'T KNOW it was supposed to be dual fuel!
Don't believe the PR, switching is not easy. Keep an eye on it like a hawk.0
