Car tax renewal date 2 months earlier than tax runs out

Hi,
I have just received my car tax renewal letter from the DVLA which states my car tax is due to expire 29th Feb, however in previous years it was always the end of April. Checked online on DVLA website and it says due 1st March.
Has anyone else had this happen to them - seems like we are loosing out on 2 months which we already paid for last year!!!
Is this legal???

Have you got a record of previous tax payments. Bank statement or email conformation.

Or the tax disk that was issued on your last renewal?

I know that a change of registered keeper will affect the tax renewal date but would a change of address have any effect?

No changes, had car for over 10 years, not moved address, got all the tax discs from previous years all run out 31st April - don't understand why this year is different

30 days hath September, April, June and November....

Should it = NO

But this is the DVLA so anythings possible, people have sent licences off for a change of address and had categories removed.

So them getting the tax date wrong would not surprise me.
