Section 75 query

Thanks to everyone on here for all the fantastic advice over the years...

I recently bought a car. I put the deposit and a portion of the cost onto a credit card for Section 75 protection in case anything went wonky in the sale. Nothing did, its been three months and the car has been faultless.

I have now paid off the outstanding balance on the credit card and was going to close it but I'm wondering should I keep it open in case something does go wrong with the car and to allow me some Section 75 type protection or is that protection gone as I have now taken receipt of the car...?

TIA

  • What kind of s75 cover are you hoping for?

    S75 is not a warranty.

Agreed, not expecting a warranty. In the unlikely event that something was fundamentally wrong with car at time of purchase that was not picked up until later.

Anyway, I should have searched as the answer is on the main site at a link I can't post in the shopping section. The card can be closed and still afford protection.

even when you pay on a card, trust me it can outway the cost as you have to obtain expensive reports and with used they can say wear and tear
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Indeed, that is correct.
