Short term, is there such a thing, will be used for a house refurb so would prefer an account where I can use an app to pay the builders?

Virtually any current account would support mobile banking these days I would think.
I don't use a mobile app myself but I routinely get offered on the splash page when I sign on to any of my online banking.0 -
You'd get interest on max £50K if you exhausted all the interest paying current accounts. As it looks as if the money will be spent fairly quickly, the effort of setting up all those accounts and then keeping them going with all the minimum monthly deposits and DDs required seems disproportionate under the circumstances. That's why I suggested Tesco savings - not that it has an exactly exciting interest rate (where would you get that anyway), but as it has excellent facilities for a savings account, and the Tesco app is said to be excellent.0
