hi all
am thinking about a DRO as only income is benefits due to being hubands full time carer.
wondering how income is worked out as hubby gets disability benefits but all of those are used on his changed needs, i get income support with hubby on claim and carers allowance. also use my sons spare car as my mum is now infirm as well and need to see to her twice a day, car registered in my name but son is owner, i pay tax and insurance on it as he works away a lot and does not use it often, how would that stand in DRO? also have a lloyds basic account, what is likely to happen to it as benefits all paid in to this account so is it likely to be closed? sorry for all queries, hope someone could help!

Hi,
Only your income is used. It's your income minus what you spend it on that determines whether you have less than £50 pm spare income.
If you use someone else's car then that's fine and the expenses you pay are fine too. I presume your son has a receipt somewhere for the car.
With the new regulations around basic bank accounts Lloyds should give you a basic bank account - but I find these things take time to filter through so have a word with Lloyds but I'd be more inclined to open a new account with Barclays prior to DRO and get your DD's etc sorted.
