Help need manual for Supreme Multiflue gas fire

Hi there, British Gas have been out today to service my gas fire. As I did not have a manual showing how to put the bricks back in correctly they have left it 'At Risk' and told me not to use it. The engineer said if I can trace a manual then next time they can remove the 'At Risk'.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please? I have looked on Google but cant seem to find one.
The fire is a Supreme Multiflue. The company that sold the fire The Fireplace Group seem to be no longer trading.
Thank you

  • Thanks very much for the info about laying the coal Alan. That's really useful for me to check the bricks so I appreciate it.
British Gas said I needed the user manual for them to remove the 'at risk' I don't suppose you have the whole manual do you? I could let you have my email.

Exlusive Fires went bust over 15 years ago, maybe 20, so getting hold of any parts needed will be slim to none.

You may find that BG still decommission the fire, as it may not be up to current regs, they are like that.

If you have never swapped the coals on the fire over, then the likelihood is that they are decomposing, moisture gets into them and makes them fall apart. This alone may make BG decommission the fire.

Keep your fingers crossed for a BG engineer with a little knowledge on a gas fire. Most don't know what they are doing with them.
  • Thank you for the link, unfortunately its not the manual for my fire. Mine is Supreme Multiflue
  • Thanks also Rustyboy21! Useful info. Yes the engineer didn't seem to know much about gas fires, he phoned his office three times while he was here. I'm hoping the page showing how the bricks should be laid may help, but they may be pedantic and say its not the full manual!

They will almost certainly be pedantic.

He will most likely say, he needs the guide, to ensure the Gas inlet pressure is correct as per manufacturers instructions and that the servicing required to be done for complete combustion is correct.

Without this guide, you will be hard pressed to get it re commissioned. I have looked at sources I use for a copy, to no avail. They were ( I think) made by Eurotech fires for them, but they went bust at same time and without knowing which model it was based on, I couldn't find any guide which may help you.

If you want a new fire, you should be able to get a simple cheap multi flue fire at a price just over buying any spare parts for the original one.
  • Hi Alan Carter - saw you have posted the configuration of coals page from the manual I may be trying to source! If you have the actual manual would you be so kind as to post/scan me a copy?
I can provide my details if so... I really need to know which coals to purchase first and then this configuration image will help me thereon.

    thanks
    Katharine
