Anyway best of luck, I really hope you get the house you have fallen in love with.
Unfortunately this isn't just occurring in London. I've been beaten to two houses in the past fortnight by losing out to sealed bids after going £5k over the asking price.
I'm viewing some more houses at the weekend but don't hold out much hope of getting one at anywhere near the asking price.0 -

I WAS excited, I'm now really disappointed! Haven't bought a house!!
I did some research just after the offer was accepted and found that the land bordering the house on two sides is earmarked for housing - at least 80 houses, if not more.
I loved the house because of its location, and was devastated that the green fields surrounding it will be built on at some stage - maybe not in the next year, but probably within the next 5. Also with the style of the house and the slope of the surrounding fields it would end up completely overshadowed. Plus I have lived near a building site before and it was hell.
So I pulled out.
Thankfully haven't spent any money by pulling out so quick.0 -
Sounds like a lucky escape then. Disappointing, but if you wouldn't have been happy with new houses nearby then it obviously wasn't the right house for you.
Back to the drawing board....
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
