PPI Question

I know about PPI clams, but didnt know it was part of a mortgage until I looked into it further. Is this right is the below PPI ?

My mortgage is now paid off, past year. I had a policy with Zurich called Level Protection plan for a number of years. It was stopped in 2014 when I was about to pay the mortgage off. I was sold my mortgages and this policy by an independent advisor who I used to go back to every few years to change the mortgage to a better provider.

At the time I was told I needed this policy in case I was sick or made redundant etc, even though I said this is highly un likely as I work in public sector and you can be off sick for a year on full pay ! and few people get made redundant they move jobs etc. But It was still needed.

I have all the paper work for this.

If this is PPI who do I claim from Zurich or someone else ?

Thanks

    Hi,

Sorry to jump in, but i have just been on the phone to natwest about a possible PPI claim i had on a personal loan.

this particular insurance was labelled as "life & pensions" on my bank statements and was payed separately to my loan but on the same day as the loan. it was definitely part of the loan because it starts and stops at the same time as my loan.

Anyway after a long discussion with the nattiest advisor they have told me that this is not included in a PPI claim.....

Just after bit of advise as to what other people on here think and what i should do next?

    Regards.

    No. its not PPI.

    Life assurance in other words.

Even if you had MPPI that would not be a reason for complaint. Plenty of public sector workers are getting made redundant and 1 years sick pay is not an issue with MPPI (it is with loan and credit card PPI). However, you dont have PPI.

You would complain to the independent adviser. However, as its not PPI, it would be an easy complaint to reject. It would also burn your bridges with that adviser.

Yours is not PPI either. It is life assurance.

As a general point it might be worth reading your Ts & Cs at work as civil service is usually 6 months full 6 months half sick pay just in case you ever do need to claim on it

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • I bought a car in 2008 from a car dealer and was missold PPI. Now my problem is, the loan was from GE Money, they later sold the company to Santander. I tried to claim PPI from Santander and was told I wasn't entitled to PPI because I got it through GE Money. The FOS told me to go to the car dealer, but before I could pursue the car dealer I got a letter from the car dealer informing me that the FOS had been in touch with them and because I didn't contact them the case was closed. What can I do to get my money back.

your complaint is solely against the car dealer and no-one else.

If the FOS referred the complaint to the car dealer and the car dealer rejected the complaint, then you only get 6 months to refer the complaint to the FOS. If htat was more than 6 months ago then its game over.

if the car dealer never contacted you then that clock never started ticking. So, you would go to the FOS now.
