Weekly Pay Calculation for Redundancy

Options
Hello everybody,

I believe the company I have worked at for the past 18 years may be no more very shortly so I am trying to work out what I may receive in redundancy payments.

I have always been a full time employee, but when I returned after Christmas (4th Jan), I was told to only go in for 3 days a week.
Does this mean that my redundancy will be worked out on those 3 days, rather than a full weeks pay? That seems rather cheeky to me.
Hopefully somebody will be able to help.

Thank you.

Dan.

What reason were you given for the reduced hours, and I assume that you agreed them? Without knowing the details, it's impossible to tell you.
  • Hi there.

I didn't really get given an option...they said there wouldn't be enough money to pay everyone their full-time weekly wage, so management were given a pay cut and the others were put to 3 days a week.

Are you salaried or paid by the hour?
  • I am paid by the hour.

And how many hours are you contracted to do per week/month/year?
  • Well I have always worked 37.5 hours per week (before overtime) prior to Christmas, but they said to us Jan-Mar will only be 3 days (equivalent to 22.5) and then we'd be back to 37.5 as of April.

I suppose I should ask them for a copy of my contract when I'm back in on Monday.

    Thanks,

    Dan.

Definitely. You could be on zero hours?!
  • Which would mean if they asked me not to come in for the rest of Feb, then I would receive no redundancy?

    - presumably there wont be redundancy come April?
  • I believe the decision will be made next week to whether they continue or not, so very unlikely.
