No, they were in Ts and buying unbranded essentials, then saw this and thought it was a good price that couldn't be matched anywhere else. I accept that 10% could have been saved by buying at A, but that would have involved petrol and time.

No, that's absolutely fine and good reason as the 15.9p would have been lost by travelling (as well as the need, possibly, to buy seven further items comparing good against T additional to what you needed).

I wasn't directing any point against you! The point I was making was the valid one that, in effect, if people mixed their branded items up like that, that is what they would be doing even if they ended up with a discount off their shopping (a discount that would have been somewhat more had they not bought the bitesize Shredded Wheat and still had enough different items in their shopping).

Normally, I'd say that people should never ever an entry like that appearing on a comp. If they are going to get bitesize Shredded Wheat at £1.59 and it is much cheaper than everywhere else that T compares against then why would people (who did things properly, were really in the know and, therefore, were the only people who ever truly saved any money) ever buy as much as 10 different items in a shop simply to have their comp. doomed to fail, effectively end up paying more for the shredded wheat even if everything else is cheaper somewhere else, and mean their discount is reduced?

Since A compares own brands - though I accept the travelling point - the only time I would ever see a comp. like that should ideally be a shop that otherwise solely consisted of whoopsied items at extremely good store specific T price and they just happened to buy the Shredded Wheat and had 10 different items anyway. Otherwise, I have no issue about people just buying the shredded wheat, and nothing else at all in a shop, in T and simply paying T's £1.59 price for that (I've done that myself before) as they would not be getting enough items anyway, had they shopped at A, and therefore would not have had an Avs T comparison. If you want bitesize shredded wheat, and that's all you need, then that is fine - in that circumstance you would never ever buy 9 additional other items as well and thus should never see a comp. like that. That's my approach anyway - you (the global you again) should never have a comp. from T with any item on which all comparable competitors are more expensive unless your shopping consisted of whoopsies, store-specific reduced items or own brand items on which T was the absolute best price and were preferably all no available equivalent from A - then there is no need to buy 10 different items - doing so is buying too much from T and spending too much - and, if 10 different items are bought, that should be purely by chance and certainly never intended!

I might return to that later (oh no:rotfl::rotfl: - you say!) as the wombles have lost me so much:rotfl:. I almost feel like not using some of them as the shop, really, was a failed shop that should have got so much more. One of them ended up with £1.78:T which seems an alright amount to have. However, it is an absolute low amount that has been drastically cut indeed. The comp. against the overall 'best' competitor also contained a number of very bad comparisons where the competitor was over a pound more expensive. Their comparison came out with A cheaper:mad::mad::rotfl: - they should never, ever, under any circumstances, be cheaper on the APG if you want to save money - they should only ever be way more expensive than one specific place that is the cheapest and as cheap as possible on every item - and the result was that they lost over £6 on the voucher!

So, that voucher, which looks alright at £1.78, is in fact a completely low amount that ought to have been over £8! I almost feel like not using it, as the shop was so disastrous, and in fact a £1.30 voucher from another shop seems somehow better, because although they had few comparable items and not much difference between the prices, at least they didn't lose over £6 for me from their purchase of several 'cheaper' items for me than ended up with A a bit cheaper overall.

In fact, I've no need to return to it, as I'll mention the others right now. One of them would have been so much better had their shopped at the beginning of the week instead of the end. It had 2x the Cathedral Cheese - and the M was best. . Instead of £6.00 vs £4.00 and adding £2.40 to the APG, it gave £4.00 vs £5.34 and thus lost 80p. Would have been about £3.20 more had they shopped on last Monday instead of Friday! The other one I've now noticed - it was that one with the £1.99 vs £1.00 chocolate pouches vs M - had 2x Turkey Mince at 2 for £7 but they bought the wrong Turkey Mince that made no appearance!:rotfl: Again, I'm just losing so much money on the wombles:rotfl::rotfl:.

Thanks for the meal deal glitch, those pizzas are quite nice, you can never have too much ice cream too. Just noticed on m website ice cream reduced to £2, I guess it will be fixed before this shows on apg

Hope your girls are alright QoC, are green houses more likely to break though in this weather?

As long as the greenhouse is well sealed it should be ok - it's in a protected corner :)

I'm on two hourly checks of them at the mo because the wind is so violent. At the allotment, someone has lost the whole felt covered wooden lid to a cupboard he built, someone has lost the felt off their shed roof and there are compost bins everywhere

I enjoy it though - should only ever be way more expensive:rotfl:!

They should. I went to Sains earlier - Nectar points hopefully now added onto card - and it's so cynical in the supermarkets, on everything. They really love me! The packs of Basics apples - most of them now only had six apples in them - the meanies! They do - all of the supermarkets, constantly trying to give us less. I did manage to get a more decent 7 pack but it's all like pulling teeth again to get anything decent out of the supermarkets. Then I saw the Basics pack of Carrots - 1.5Kg and marked on shelf as 50p per kg (probably only done because of a legal requirement to do that, I am so cynical!). T are currently 50p for a kilogram pack of their Eday ones. Same price again - what a surprise! Just so cynical.

    :rotfl:

I didn't do any shopping or any BM shopping - no point trying to match expensive A prices.

    EDIT:
(And by which mean the expensive £1 rollback items as opposed to cheaper half price 78p/88p offers at other supermarkets. Sains do have it good and are very clever - taking the perception that A are cheap when in fact we know they are a really expensive place:rotfl:. With the result that nothing in Sains is really worthwhile - either it is way more expensive Sains price on own label or else you'd be matching 'cheaper than Sains.' expensive prices at A! Gone are the way cheaper prices to compare to on Svs T - no wonder they removed T from the scheme! And T itself do not escape my cynicism as they are only that to put up to way high price again and then thwart the APG every other week - very clever of T too, as shoppers generally will often buy only when they run out with the result that the pay full price on half of their shopping whatever the week and tend to stick with the same brands each week out of habit, so that, although sometimes they will pick up an offer, they will usually (or half the time) pay full price and won't switch and switch around to follow the ones that are on offer - except that those offers cause them to buy on impulse and spend more on their shopping there too (than they would have done otherwise).)

:doh:I think I've contradicted myself from what I said right at the beginning. A should only be much more expensive - except when I am shopping at Sains and then, for that one day, A should be way way cheaper on everything than what they currently are!

Anyway, you'll be pleased to know!, I am off to Morries now - to see what cynical things I can find there:rotfl:.
