Evening!
A quiet evening to myself this evening means I have managed to trawl through some MFW diaries and watch some Monday night tc, including Cold a Feet which I am totally suckered into! Can't wait until next week
Spending diary and app have been updated, and I've booked a nice cinema date with the girlfriend (who's in Manchester for work tonight) for in a few weeks to see my all time favourite film- Labyrinth. I'm not sure if I'll be able to watch it on the big screen without singing along
We're planning to use the John Lewis voucher for free tea & cake (will buy me a coffee and share the cake) then go to the pictures, followed by using our 2 free pizzas voucher after
No word on our completion date yet but not stressing out (yet)
Works all a bit rubbish at the moment, they've changed my role massively and put more responsibilities under me too without any change in rewards. It's paying the bills (savings) at the mo so will give it a few more months and then think of what I want to do next. There are rumours of a restructure and potential consultation (not sure if redundancies) so will keep an open mind.
Off to read some more diaries and head over to old style for some lunch box idea inspiration!First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
So it's the 10th and we've not had word about the house completion date. Waiting until Tuesday and then going to ring & complain as our friends are excitedly telling us they know our completion date yet we (& our solicitors) haven't heard a word.....:(
Payday is on Thursday and I'm counting down the days until I can do the money shuffle and put some into savings
I have my MOT due on the 26th and the money stored in my bills account to cover (estimated £300 in case of repairs as my cars now 7 years and hadn't had much in the way of repairs- it's on 37000 miles only).
The car insurance is due in October and I have another £500 stashed to cover that so fingers crossed, will start looking at quotes tomorrow.
We have had some fab news, the lovely girlfriend has had an offer on the flat and I think she's going to accept it. The timeframe probably won't fit for us not to have to pay the additional stamp duty (boo) but it should mean the time to apply for the refund is short and money back
The flat was on interest only but she should make around £7k after paying off a (family, no interest) loan, just need to deduct her solicitors costs and it's sorted which is less of a worry now as we'd need to cover the mortgage if there is a change in tenants and an empty period.
Today is a NSD wooop, we have been to where I have my stuff from my flat stored and worked through lots of boxes. I have a pile to list on eBay tomorrow, and another pile for car boot/charity.
We have quite a few things already (Hoover, microwave, some kitchenware etc) but need to sort out the following once we have the completion date:
-flooring
-shelving in the under stairs cupboard (is in the kitchen so is a larder)
-sofas
-beds
-dining table/chairs
-wardrobes
Exciting times! Luckily we have been saving a lot of our vouchers from work from John Lewis, debenhams and sainsburys for buying household stuff and are both stashing funds in savings for the big things like flooring & sofas
September is all about trying to be as frugal as possible so I'm aiming for 10 NSD's and to make breakfast/lunches for work 4x a week.
Off to read some diaries for inspiration nowFirst home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
So today we took a walk round to the sales office and the sales guys confirmed it is the 30th September for completion and we should receive the letter in the post :-)
Have messaged the floor fitter for the front room and hallway so we can get a quote on the floor we like (will compare with a few floor people we know) and now need to find a tiler for the kitchen floor!!!
Nipped into Tescos as they were marking food down- it was a total bun fight so we walked away from the chilled food counter and picked up some crumpets for 23p instead- they'll go in the freezer and perfect for breakfasts etc midweek if working from home.
Making Jamie Oliver Kung Pao chicken for tea tonight, just chilling out this afternoon and relaxing before work and the stress begins again tomorrow.
I left the eBay items at the storage place so not listing them tonight, that can be next weeks job instead, hoping to get £10 for the kindle fire and a bit for the kobo reader fingers crossed!First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

Nothing like a completion date to steel the mind.
Today at work was a vast improvement on last week, I even took a lunch break (woop!) so walked to M&S, tried some of the free samples (hot chicken pie & Brie yum!) and ended up buying some ys new potatoes for 50p.
Other than that it was a no spend day today.
Even went for a half hour outside run & covered 2.7km which is not too badFirst home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

Fantastic news about the completion date - you must be so excited !0

Thanks both! We are super excited now
Pay day tomorrow for all the money shuffling and will put funds into our joint bills account for the first time ever!
The offer on the gf's flat has formally been accepted now, we just have to sort solicitors and timescales out- it would be fab if it completes before our house so we don't pay the additional £5700 stamp duty extra but I don't think it will happen that way somehow so think we'll be requesting the refund post completion.
Got organized today and bought several birthday cards, new home, anniversary card, new baby cards and have written them out for all the occasions I can think of before the end of October.
Took packed breakfast/lunch/coffee in again today and stuck to it which was better for my waistline & pocket. I have suppliers in tomorrow for a long meeting so hoping to get lunch provided. Will take some pasta & tuna for after work on the way to college as silversmithing class restarts tomorrow. WOOP!First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
