At last the fight with British Gas is over
My partner sold his flat last Feb. He hadn't lived it in for 9 months previously so the final electric bill should have been around zero !
The Gas bill was, as expected, less than a fiver, but the electric bill came in at around £70.
Over the last six months we have rung and rung and written and rung to get this sorted out eventually involving EnergyWatch twice. I have lost count of the number of people I have spoken to who told me that it was sorted out, when it wasn't.
Finally yesterday we get a letter from British Gas saying we were right, they were wrong and in fact the electric account is in credit by a few pounds. They'll send us a cheque in a week or so. Oh, and a line about how sorry they were that the customer service had let us down on this occasion :rotfl:
And what was the next letter I opened up ? Yep, a letter from BG's debt collection agency saying they were coming after us for the money we owed them :rotfl: :rotfl:
I phoned BG straight up and gave them a mouthful and they told me to 'ignore' the letter and after some bartering got them to send us some compensation for the phone calls etc we had made.
I can laugh now about it. I just wanted to give some hope to other people who find themselves in the same situation that it can be sorted. (Energy watch were very good btw). I almost paid the bill just to get rid of them and their treatening letters but I am glad I didn't

Hi Loobs...congrats on getting it sorted....am not with BG and often wonder how and why things started to go wrong with them. Perhaps a disaffected computer technician or when they became Centrica. Several heads should roll. They have literally given away business.0

...another reminder to pay the bill came from British gas today.

BG - 'Counting Chickens' - have you got your money yet?0

Nope. Maybe I was a bit premature about thinking the nightmare was all over......0
