Ferry insurance for inclement weather

Hi,

I am planning a trip to a Scottish island for a holiday. The problem I am having is the ferries to the island are very unpredictable due to bad weather and I may not make it onto the island for my holiday. Keeping this in mind, the hotel I am looking to book wants a hefty deposit for the stay, and says that it will not refund it if the ferries do not sail.

Is there any way I can buy travel insurance which will cover me for the hotels costs in the eventuality that the ferries do not sail and I am physically unable to reach my hotel?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Surely that's just the delay and/or curtailment part of most travel insurance policies? What you may need to do is shop around for one that pays enough to cover your costs if you can't make the crossing.
