That's the circumference that I was getting too! Did you pay the invoice or did you fight it?
No, I haven't paid it. At the time I sent a few messages explaining how I'd measured correctly adding the 2 shortest sides x by 2 and adding the length and it was defo not over. I was actually accused of having a parcel of 150 cm long. It was 63 cm! 150 is nearly as tall as me. It was a ridiculous claim and they knew it. My parcel was close to their max circumference though but not over. last message I sent I asked for proof it was 150 cm and they never replied so I never paid the invoice. It might be still in my PayPal account, I just left it.
I haven't used them since - I only sell bits and bobs anyway.
I did put it on here at the time for advice and someone said they hadn't paid an unjust invoice and still send parcels with them now. Someone else said to take photos of the parcel with a tape measure and tracking number displayed before sending. You'd have proof then, I thought a fantastic idea.0 -

I just want to add I think they're not checking the parcels properly just a look and "oh, that's over" no measuring or anything because to say to me after me emailing and questioning it " your parcel was 150 cm" is so ridiculously random that they're not obviously looking and checking properly.
Shame really because they're great for reliable tracking with all the dodgy buyers angling for a freebie0 -
I still use them, although I'm just a private seller, I find their service and location (drop off point) more suitable and I also like tracking, as you say, chancers have less of a chance of getting a freebie.
They are not as bad as some people say they are, but I believe some of their drivers could be a bit more careful. However, same as everywhere else, they have their faults and mistakes.
Last time I had been issued an invoice for £4 when the actual 'incident' email said £3.50. So I added the difference plus admin fee, it came to £3.45, £0.55 difference. After they had ignored me, I claimed the difference through PayPal, not because £0.55 would break my bank, but because of the principum. Looking back on it now, I should've just ignored the whole case.0 -
Received an invoice for extra charges last week, when the parcel was definitely within the limits I paid for. Cancelled the invoice from my end and sent them a grumpy email. The parcel was delivered 2 days later to a happy buyer and I haven't heard anything more from Hermes.0

I was fined £9 + VAT, the notice doesn't say which of the 3 factors were involved but it was an irregular shape, I don't see any calculation of the volume, nothing.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. When i had a Hermes parcel near the weight band and size I took a photo of it on a set of scales showing the reading and also with a tape measure showing the dimensions. As it happened there wasn't an issue. Whether the photographic proof would have been accepted if there was i dont know but might be better than nothing.0

I had crossed my mind to do that with that particular parcel, but I had disregarded the 'gut' feeling. Not sure whether it would've made any difference, but I will be doing it from now on.0
