Thanks gsmlnx, I'll see how things go. Hopefully I'm not going from bad to worse...
It's not a huge saving for me going for the big switch, about £70 + £30 cashback but I think it's a good enough time to bite the bullet and make the move.

When I first selected who to go with when I moved in here, I had a toss up between Scottish Power and British Gas. The meter then was prepaid and at that time they were only two companies that allowed online top up.
I stayed with British Gas when I moved to a credit meter. I appreciate they are not the cheapest but I like the control I can have over my account. I have an app on my phone with which I submit monthly meter readings for both my gas and electricity, it then tells me what my balance is. I pay by monthly direct debit. On a regular basis you can also change to one of their reward accounts without penalty. I have had amazon and other vouchers off them on several occasions.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

Thanks datlex, I got excited when I did the switch and they asked me for my Nectar card details only to find on here that they were opting out of giving nectar points for many things now.
