Largest review of housing in 10 years

The biggest review into the housing market in more than a decade is being launched, as home ownership languishes at the lowest rate for nearly three decades.
The Redfern Review is being led by Pete Redfern, chief executive of house builder Taylor Wimpey, and is being backed by John Healey MP, the shadow housing minister.
The review will look at the key problem areas sustaining the housing crisis, such as affordability for first-time buyers, different tenures such as the shared ownership scheme, housing supply and planning
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/constructionandproperty/12138852/Government-launches-biggest-housing-review-in-more-than-a-decade.htmlHe said: “It’s not to knock party policy but to question and challenge, and to say ‘this is working really well’, or ‘this isn’t working well but may do in the future’. It’s pointless having the review if you’re not willing to challenge policy.”
He added: “This is not about party politics, it affects us all."
Mr Redfern said that while it is a review into home ownership, it would not ignore other tenures, but said it would not be looking directly at the issue of supply of affordable homes.
My question would be, should it really be a huge vested interest with shareholders to please heading up the review?
Secondly, if you are going to have a housing review, why would you not look directly at the supply of affordable homes?!

You're just grumpy because they didn't ask you.
Actually they asked SmashyTime but he was busy 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
presumably they will not review the relentless increase in population due mainly to immigration
obviously the review should be lead by a completely neutral person like EU loving, left wing activist.0 -
Hardly independent, but isn't he highly likely to suggest more house building?0
-
lets hope he digs down into the regional info rather than sticks to national information with London distorting everything else
In lots of places homes are cheap let home-ownership has fallen so the panel should investigate why in those cheap areas people are not buying.0 -

Should it be a huge unvested interest instead?0 -
Maybe someone from the Social Housing sector might have been a good addition to the review.
They say the review will look at all tenures, so hopefully it will, as Housing is a wider subject than just Home Ownership, and there can be no sensible resolution to the issues without including all forms of Housing.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Yes - alongside more subsidies and schemes. The builders, and, specifically Taylor Wimpey sat with the government to design First Buy, they then had a large consultation with them and up popped Help to Buy.0 -

indeed that is probably so
it just illustrated the absurdity of a soviet style, comprehensive review, of a large are varied subject
much better half a dozen deeply non-independent reviews, so we can compare and contrast the differing views0 -
It does say in the article the review is about home ownership.0
