How do I format a ext Mac HD within Windows

I am selling an external Mac Hard Drive & I want to format it within a Windows Laptop as I don't have a Mac anymore. Forgotten how to do it so any reminders would be appreciated.

Mac uses HFS+ (Hierarchical File System Plus).

Do you want to format it in HFS+ or for use with Windows?

Personally, I always use GParted. You can create a boot CD/USB to run it, then manage any Windows, Mac or Linux partitions you have.

If you're going to be using the drive with your Windows laptop, you'll probably want to format it using the NTFS file system.

I think you asked the wrong question. I think you really want to wipe that drive, not format it, if you want to get rid of all data on it.

You can use DBAN for it, but be careful not to wipe you laptop's internal hard drive by accident.
