Do mortgage brokers really need this much chasing????

This might sound like a dumb question. We saw our broker sat, gave him everything he needed and he said he was going to call Halifax Monday to ask them a few things then put our dip check through. Well we didn't hear anything back Monday, called him Tuesday and he said his internet had been down all day and once it was up he would do it. Fair enough Bt was down nationwide Tuesday so we left it. Weds came and went and nothing. Called him lunchtime today and he said its on his desk he will call as soon as he has done it. Still nothing yet.
I know all this is a long process but he was meant to do this Monday. Is this normal? This is my first time!
Thanks guys X

If your promise to come back by a certain time, its good practice to do that - in any industry.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. There are tens of thousands of them. So, it would be difficult to say.I know all this is a long process but he was meant to do this Monday. Is this normal? This is my first time!
Transactions can be affected by workload and a lot of the workload can be unplanned. One of my mortgage advisers was in one part of the county all day yesterday and a different part the day before. He had internet problems early part of the week and didnt get his planned work done then but hasnt been able to do much since because of pre-booked home visits away from the office. He has nothing planned for tomorrow and is working on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to catch up.
I had a death claim turn up today and the work I had planned for this morning is not going to get done until tomorrow. However, I have a meeting in the morning and I am out in the afternoon. So, it may go into next week. So, you do move work around.
All that said, you should aim to give realistic timescales and not promise what you may not be able to deliver. Far better to give a longer expectation and come in before that rather than the other way around.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I suspect it is 'normal' - for your broker.
If the service appears poor it is probably because it is poor.
We all get busy, run out of time, or have technical problems.

Exactly I'm totally ok with waiting if he told me that, but he never tells us he's busy. It's very frustrating. I totally understand being busy but yes it would be nice to be told.
Thanks all0 -
Sounds like very poor service.
I always set clear timescales to clients of when I will get back to them and without fail it's always within 24 hours.I am a Mortgage BrokerYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Broker, so you need to take my word for it.

Most of us on here seem to under-promise and over-deliver.
I told a client what was going on on Tuesday and that we would have an assessment and valuation by Thursday.
On Wednesday I called him to say the application had been accepted and surveyor instructed. He was pleased, but would have been happier if he hadn't already had the good news from the surveyor contacting him to take the money for the homebuyers!I am a mortgage broker. Thanks - I guess I'm just trying to work out if I should stay with him. I've told my other half that if he doesn't let us know by the weekend then I don't think I'm happy to go with him. It's a shame because I really liked him but I think I need to be able to rely on him to be honest and upfront about what's happening. Seems he's fobbing us off a little now.0

Every time we find a client who sticks with a broker who appears to be a nightmare, the broker proves to be....

If you are already feeling this way about the broker at the beginning of the process then it may be best to find someone else before you get further along.
I wouldn't be happy if I was having to chase someone who was meant to be working for me; if there are problems then it would be courteous to at least call and say there have been delaysCurrent Mortgage 01.10.17 £113,513.88

Did you get the broker via your EA?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
