Hi
Im a bit confused about the bank charges that you can reclaim. I was wondering what you can reclaim because I get charged for my overdraft fee which is 6.00 and my overdraft intrest which is around 39.00 and sometimes it makes me go over my limit then I get unplanned charges I'm just wondering what I can reclaim if any because I lose a lot a month through this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Pay off your overdraft then you won't be charged any fees at all - simple.0

I'm not in a position to be able to pay it off atm that's why I was wondering what I can reclaim if anything I am aware if I wasn't in my overdraft I wouldn't be charge but I am and the fee are given me more hardship0

Forget reclaiming and focus on managing your money better.
Allow £50 headroom for charges to avoid further charges.
Look to reduce the highest overdraft point each month when compared to the previous month.0 -

There's nothing to reclaim.
They charged you legally.0 -

You're pre-notified of the amount to be debited the following month. You say...Benlewis74 wrote: »I get charged for my overdraft fee which is 6.00 and my overdraft intrest which is around 39.00 and sometimes it makes me go over my limit then I get unplanned charges
...but you can't have, otherwise you'd have at least £45 left in the account on that day...wouldn't you?I have done budgeting etc
Money, which should be earmarked for account fees in line with their published tariff, is leaving your account and being spent on other things. Maybe it's ATM withdrawals? If it is, reduce them! If it's DDs then cancel the DDs and pay by other means.I'm just wondering what I can reclaim if any because I lose a lot a month through this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
There are generally 3 ways out of debt:
1. Earn more
2. Spend less
3. Restructure the debt, ie get a cheaper overdraft facility or loan
Getting charges back isn't going to solve the problem now is it? Your problems are much deeper rooted than that.0 -
If you've not already spoken to your bank, call them. Explain that you're struggling with the charges being added and ask them if they would consider refunding some of them to help you. Of course it's no good doing this if you still won't be able to stay within your limit as they'll only look at doing this if they think it will help you to not incur any more charges. They can only say no.Be aware though this will obviously make them more aware of how you are managing your account and remember that overdrafts can be removed at any time.0

Remember though, if they do what Meer53 suggests they are only likely to be sympathetic once, the longer term solution is budgeting I'm afraid.0

Just hope they don't remove the overdraft facility and want the money repaid asap.0
