So I should apply for a second card now whilst my new card isn't showing on my credit file as a new account? Or should I wait till my new card arrives and I've asked if they will increase the credit limit which may take a couple of weeks, by which time it may show on my credit file as a new account?
  • Try the eligibility checker. See which credit card you are most likely to be accepted for. If the odds are good I would apply. But if you get rejected I wouldn't apply for any more cards for a few months.

Hi I have tried an eligibility check through the experience website and a few cards came up as a 70% chance of success. Should I apply now though whilst waiting for my other new card in the hope that it isn't showing yet on my credit file or should I wait until my new card has arrived and I've discussed with them if they will increase my limit? Bearing in mind all that may take a couple of weeks by which time my credit file will probably be updated with that new credit card account?

it's unusual for a credit card company once they have decided on your credit limit to immediately agree to increase it. They usually want at least three months regular payments before they will increase your credit limit.

I'm just wondering in that case if it's worth applying for another card now or waiting?
