Thatched Roof Home insurance

My cottage has a thatched roof and is clay lump construction.
Not unusual for a cottage in a Suffolk village.
I struggle to get a competitive home insurance deal.
My current annual premium is over £800 for home and contents.
Most insurance companies will not insure homes with thatched roofs.

From what i have seen of thatch risks £800 a year for an average sized 3 or 4 bed home, is not that bad.

If you go to a specialist thatch Insurers, you will probably see higher premiums. It is just a case of plugging away, making phone calls. You could try a large brokers like Towergate to see what they can come up with.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
