It seems i'm not the only one needing a new boiler at the moment.
Just received a quote for £1,800 - Based in Essex
It's mostly a straight forward swap - will need to tidy some of the pipework up.
Its for a Valiant Ecotec Pro 28
Includes horizontal flue, fittings, pipework, condense etc (his words)
Comes with a five year warrantee on all parts and will be fully certified and signed off by him after (which i would expect.)
Sorry I sound stupid but is this an okay quote? Need it done pretty quick as i have no hot water or CH. Also, do you have any advice on what sort of questions I may need to ask him to make sure the job is done correctly?
thank you

You don't sound stupid for asking advice on prices but, don't take just the one quote/estimate.
Get at least three.
There are much longer warranties available, Baxi on their Platinum offer ten years.0 -
Under normal circumstances I normally do try to get three quotes. However, we are away for a wedding from tomorrow till Sunday evening so getting others in is quite difficult.0

My son just paid £1600 for the same boiler that was also straight swap, it included a wireless controller. He live in Bournemouth.0

Two colleagues at work (in Essex) each had recent boiler replacements - with a bit of pipework tidy up - and both were around the £1800 from different local plumbers.
Sounds about the same then.
Good luck.0 -
Does that include a Powerflush? Check the warranty as a flush may be required to validate it, also check its only 5 years. Some Vaillants have 7 year warranties.0
-
I think in this situation the OP wants hot water and CH asap.
I would clarify what the plumber quoted and get him on board.
Maybe try and sweeten the price a bit.
We could still get cold snaps which would put your house at risk from freezing pipes.0 -
The price seems ok. Make sure you hire a Vaillant registered gas engineer to install the boiler so you get an extended warranty at no additional cost (7 years).
Good luck.Emmajane1987 wrote: »It seems i'm not the only one needing a new boiler at the moment.
