can changing the currency you pay for hotel drastically reduce cost ?

Hi .
OK here's the thing,
my wife n I were looking on experdia and booking.com for all inclusive hotels in Lake garda Italy which came out the same price around £240. FOR 5 DAYS PLUS FLIGHTS but when we tried travelocity it priced the same hotels and same dates n deal but In dollars at just $88 .which is much much cheaper,

So my question's are is this perhaps a mistake worst case scenario, or is this just a case that if we pay in dollars we can get the deal an American can get?

Cheers guys:beer:

Is the $88 per night rate? And not the 5 day total cost

    Hi,,
yer you're right, the other sites calculate all the days you choose but on looking closer the travelocity give you a day rate which explains every thing now,:cry::(

But it is still about 30 pounds cheaper paying in dollars.

Travelocity's site is now operated by Expedia, it is Expedia technology and rates with Travelocity branding. There may be some differences on price with certain hotels as they negotiate some deals for particular sites, but it's fundamentally the same.

I don't know how far through the site you went before calculating the £30 saving by booking on Travelocity.com in dollars, but be aware that on the search result, US-based sites will show rates excluding taxes, whereas UK sites will show tax-inclusive prices (some taxes paid directly at the hotel may not be included). This is just a function of the different points of sale and their norms. On a US site you'll only see the full price when you click through to book. If you search the same thing on Expedia.com and Expedia.co.uk, you can see these different pricing displays.

Of course, it is possible that on a given property they are selling for a few dollars less on Travelocity.
