To board & plaster chimney breast

FIRE_zpszxcdabfg.jpg

I took measurements in case it helps.

Basically, to...

* board & skim the face & sides of the chimney breast (there is a double socket on the right side of the chimney breast - again, just trying to give a full picture)
* fit 2 pieces of skirting (skirting is already here, paid for, ready to go)
* board out the internal (where the fire is going to go) - but this board will already be paid for & supplied.

What sort of price range would be appropriate for that work?

My concern is what fire is being installed, what heat output and is dry lining appropriate beside a fire?

Upon speaking to the guy who's going to fit the fire this is the approach he said has been used on his fire installs.

I have asked a question, and this is not an answer. You may be OK but I will duck out from now on.
  • Well the flip side of that then is that I also asked a question & your (initial) response was not an answer either.

So I don't see why you get upset when you get the same?

Regardless, we are running out of time so I was just wanting to know roughly the price range so I can see if we're being overcharged (or over quoted) or not.
  • Well for anyone who may stumble across this thread i'll help others....

I was able to speak in person with a few builders & plasterers. I gave them the image above with the measurements, told them exactly what needed doing, showed them photos of the job.

The base price was £170 ("as a minimum") and this ranged up to about £250.

    The general was £200-£220.

For anyone interested the reason i asked was because i was quoted almost double that.
