    A pictures saves a thousand words... I need a diagram :)

From what most previous posters have written, the pipes are on your side of the party wall.

From what you (OP) have written, the pipes don't cross onto your property (although without a plan/diagram, the photos that you posted give the impression that they do impinge on your property), but are actually in line with the boundary, above the party wall...
  • DRP,

Yes, the pipes do appear to stay above the party wall.

Does your neighbor have access into that area shown on the photos? Either from their property, or by agreement, through yours?

If not, then I would say that the pipes shouldn't be there. How are they ever going to maintain them. The bit of tape joining two sections of the plastic ducting doesn't look like it will last 5 minutes, and then there'll be damp air being blown into the space, rather than to the outside
  • I think I'd be phoning Building Control again & suggesting that the neighbours appear to have breached the compartment wall (regarding fire safety) with a pipe with a diameter greater than 40mm.....

I hate these neighbourly f12k ups.

I had a similar instance with my neighbour over construction their of extention and their plans which showed they were letting the roof overhang the boundary line. The builders knew full well what they were doing and it was only after I noticed and kicked up a big fuss before work started that ensured it did not happen.

Needless to say this made me look like the bad guy when in reality it was the builders giving bad information to my neighbours. Unfortunatly when people are paying "professionals" tens of thousands, they usually believe the builders rather than a concerned neighbour.

They were relying neighbouly ignorance to make the job easier for them.

Always take action before work starts, because sorting it out after can be a nightmare.
